Learn the main paths people take through Ember today.

Invite someone to join a family or circle

There are two main ways to do this.

From a topic details page

  1. Click into any topic from the topics page. Ignore the onboarding and learning topics in the first row, since those take you straight into a voice conversation.
  2. Beneath the description, you will see cards that represent the people in your family or circle, as well as an Add person card.
  3. Click the relevant card and go through the modal to fill out their basic information and generate an invite link.

From the people settings page

  1. Go to the people settings page, either by clicking People from the home screen or your avatar icon in the top-right corner.
  2. Click into the circle card for the family or circle you want to invite someone to.
  3. You will see cards that represent the people in your family or circle, as well as an Add person card.
  4. Click the relevant card and go through the modal to fill out their basic information and generate an invite link.

We automatically send an invite notification to the email or phone number you specify, but you also get a unique referral link at the end of the step to send directly.

Invite someone to complete a topic

  1. Make sure they have already accepted their invite to your circle.
  2. From the topics page, click into a topic that interests you.
  3. Beneath the description, choose the person card you want to assign the topic to.
  4. Complete the flow to send the invite.

That topic invite shows up as a card in their /talk page, and they also get an email or text notification depending on which channel you used.

Edit your personal settings

  1. Click People from the home page, or click your avatar circle from anywhere in the app.
  2. This takes you to your profile settings page.
  3. Update your settings there.

Change your primary language

  1. Click People from the home page, or click your avatar circle in the top-right corner.
  2. This takes you to your profile settings page.
  3. Update your language setting there.

Record a memory

  1. Go to the /talk page.
  2. If you see any topics assigned to you, click into the card to start recording.
  3. If you want a more freestyle conversation, choose the Freestyle card and then choose which circle to add the memory to.
  4. If you want to browse topics yourself, go to /topics, assign yourself a topic, then either press Start topic from the topic details page or go back to /talk and find the assigned topic there.

Generate a story from a memory

  1. Go to the memories page, the second option from the home screen.
  2. Scroll to find the memory you want.
  3. Today you can search based on person and by circle or family:
    • To filter by family or circle, choose one of the circles you belong to from the header.
    • To filter by person, use the person chips underneath the Back to Home area in memories.
  4. Click into the memory card.
  5. Under the Story section, swipe left and right to see the available languages and writing styles.
  6. Click one of the options, or all of them.
  7. Wait for the story to generate. Once ready, clicking the story generation card toggles a notepad where you can read or edit the story. Story editing uses Markdown syntax.

Delete a memory or recording

  1. You should only delete your own memories.
  2. Go to the /memories page and find the memory you are looking for.
  3. Click the trash can icon in the top-right of the card.

Leave a circle

  1. Go to /people/circles.
  2. Click into the circle you want to leave.
  3. Find your own person card.
  4. Click it, and use the red button at the bottom-left of the modal to unlink your account from this person.
  5. Confirm.

If you leave a circle, your recordings and memories become immediately invisible to other users. The data is archived for 30 days and then hard deleted.
